NAXOS (The Queen of Cyclades)

In spite of being the largest and most self-sufficient of the Cycladic islands due to extensive local production of agricultural and dairy products it has remained relatively undiscovered. To get to know Naxos with its white, sandy beaches and fertile valleys nestled in rocky mountains, its springs and streams, its Byzantine churches, monasteries, Venetian castles and medieval towers the visitor should be prepared to move around and explore its hidden charms. You can get to Naxos from Athens by plane (45 minutes), normal ferry (about 6.5 hours) or fast boat (about 3.5 hours).
